Andrew and I were finally able to officially celebrate our five-year anniversary. We seem to frequently celebrate it in February because December is just a crazy month. We went down to Las Vegas a week and a half ago and spent two nights there. It was a little stressful to leave James because I didn’t want him to regress with potty training, but he did really well (just a couple accidents and none since). It was also so nice to have a whole weekend with Andrew! It has been a really long time since we’ve had that much time together.

We arrived Friday afternoon. Our first date was dinner and a movie. We went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner and played some arcades while we waited for our late movie to start.

Us after our yummy meal!

The next morning, I got locked in the bathroom for about forty-five minutes after taking my shower. We had to have a maintenance guy come and break the knob off. I only had a teeny tiny towel–with my bulging belly–with which to cover myself, so I stood in the shower behind the curtain until he was done. Oh fun. We only stayed there because of their “buy one night, get one night free” deal…it’s a good thing it was cheap.

Luckily it was a very large bathroom, so I had no chance of getting claustrophobic. This is only half of it.

After that ordeal was over, we went to the Hoover Dam. Fun to see once. I don’t think we’ll ever go again.

Looking down.

A new bridge being built.

That night we went to “The Phantom of the Opera”; I LOVED it! It was my first time seeing it, besides the movie. Andrew got us front-row seats, and we were so close we could see the spit flying from of the actors’ mouths. Probably more than we wanted to see, but it was cool that we were that close.

And…last week I went to lunch at Pirate Island Pizza with my best girlfriends and their cute kids! We went to celebrate Chelsea’s birthday. I love these girls and really need to see them more often!

Happy Birthday Chels!

Okay, It’s a REALLY long post.

On Thurdsay (May 14th) we were in Antigua. We went to a beach that morning and then Andrew and I did a zipline excursion. It was a fun day, but would have been better if we hadn’t had to wait for almost two hours to do the zipline. The beaches were so pretty that I would have loved to spend more time there.

That night Andrew decided to take some preventative measures…he thought he might be getting a headache (he has chronic migraines) and if he got a headache, he was worried that he might then become nauseated…so he took TWO Dramamine. They apparently make you drowsy and Andrew’s mom only takes half of one to keep herself from being nauseated because if she takes a whole one she gets too tired. Well, this is Andrew after taking TWO. I thought it was pretty funny. We were quickly losing him. He managed to drink some diet coke eventually, which helped him to make it through the night’s activities.

On Friday (May 15th) we were ported in Tortola (British Virgin Islands). It was a pretty place. We took a little tour of the island before going on our excursion that afternoon.

We thought it was cool when we saw one of these while waiting to go parasailing. Then we looked around and counted eight or nine just from where we were standing.

Our excursion that afternoon was taking a boat to St. John. It was such a pretty island. We did some more snorkeling and swam. It would have been perfect if there hadn’t been swarms of mosquitoes attacking us. I counted twenty bites when we were done.

This picture shows off Andrew’s cool tan line. He put his sunscreen on himself when we were in Barbados snorkeling four days earlier. He had hand and finger prints all over his back. Everyone that saw it would say: “looks like you put sunscreen on yourself.” It was funny. I felt bad that he was in so much pain though.

Our first stop (May 12th) was Barbados. We went snorkeling with our snorkel gear from Costco (gotta love that place) that morning and then walked around the town that afternoon. It was fun. cruise d3 1

We went on a walk around the ship almost every night. We liked to stop at the front of the ship where it was completely dark on the deck and look out into the water. On this particular night, I glanced down to see my dress in the air. No one else could see because it was dark, but I started laughing because I couldn’t keep it down.

Andrew bought a new hat. He doesn’t ever wear hats. He almost wore it the next day but then took it off and said “I don’t want to get it dirty and sweaty”…oh I love that man. I laughed.

Andrew and I went to the party on the deck that night. We danced with all of the drunks (near not with); it was really entertaining. The best thing about the party was the cool display of desserts and fruit. My favorite was the watermelon sailboat.

Monday was our only day at sea. We slept in until 10am. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to do that! It could have been because we hadn’t slept in almost two days, or that we didn’t have James, or that there were no windows and it was completely dark. I think it was all three. I can’t remember the last time I slept so well. I slept so well every night. The rocking motion of the ship probably helped too. Anyways, It was a fun day cruising. We took the time to lay out, eat, explore the ship, and eat some more. It was so relaxing.

We were set to fly standby to San Juan Sunday morning (as an alternate to our confirmed flights). All four of us were stand-by for an 8:30 flight; Andrew and I were standby for the 9:40 flight, which his parents were confirmed for, and Andrew and I were confirmed for an 11:00 flight–which we REALLY didn’t want to wait for. So the wishing and hoping began around 8am (technically it began about 16 hours earlier). Andrew and I actually made it on the first flight for about two minutes but while we were finding our seats the people had arrived to claim them and we were kicked off. So we waited for the 9:40 flight and made it on standby. It was so nice to be officially on our way. And it was nice that all four of us were on the same flight.

Boarding the cruise ship–finally!!!

Doing pretty good considering I only slept about three hours the night before we left because I was so nervous about leaving James. I think at this point I was going on four hours of sleep in two days.

We went out on the deck after the movie to watch us leave the bay around 11pm. I was able to sleep through most of the movie, giving me the extra energy I needed to stay up a little longer. Then it was time for bed.
