James hit the 18-month mark on the 15th. I can’t believe my little baby is 18 months old! I took some pictures of him last week and it was quite a challenge to get him to sit in front of the camera. I began by bribing him with a Junior Mint (one of his favorite treats). Then I put an animal cracker and a Junior Mint in a cup as bait. It worked out pretty well! At least well enough for me to get some decent photos. I had him just in his diaper because I wanted to capture what’s left of his “baby” body. He is looking more and more like a little boy everyday and it is fun and sad all at the same time. I have more pictures that I want to add, but they aren’t on this computer…so this is just a preview.

I had every intention of posting Christmas pictures, but I haven’t because the pictures aren’t on this computer (it’s kind of a long, boring story and Christmas is long over), but I had to at least share this one classic Christmas picture. Every mom needs a picture of her child screaming on Santa’s lap, right?

James is the friendliest little boy. He is VERY rarely afraid of strangers. He frequently goes right into a stranger’s arms and snuggles with them, as if they are, say, one of his parents. He is always gabbing to the stranger next to him at church, putting his face within and inch of theirs with the biggest smile on his face. It has always made me a little nervous that he is so trusting and loving to random people…especially in the world we live in.

However, there was something about Santa that absolutely terrified him. Is it the beard? The red suspenders? The blank, glazed-over stare? The velvety red pants? The glasses? As bad as I felt for poor James, I couldn’t help but also feel bad for poor Santa. He’s supposed to be jolly, right? Look at him. He looks like he has never held a screaming child before. I KNOW he has held plenty…it comes with the job. He’s probably a very nice man. But seriously…He looks miserable.

Poor guy. Both of them.
