I am so grateful for my cute little guy. My last post was more of an update on events and happenings but I wanted to write more about James, in honor of his second birthday. He has changed so much, even in just the last six months, and it makes me sad and happy all at the same time. It makes me sad to think that it’s getting harder and harder to remember him as a baby. But one day I’ll be saying that about the stage he’s in now…and I don’t ever want to forget it. So here are some of the things I love most about him right now:
1. He is OBSESSED with the moon, or “moom” as he calls it. He talks about it almost all day. He can’t go to bed without going into the front yard to sit on the grass and stare at the moon. Then he has to have a long, drawn-out goodbye to the “moom.”
2. He is OBSESSED with “Cars” the movie and books. He got “Cars” books for his birthday from his Aunt Kellie and was so in love with them that I decided to put the movie on for him. He’d seen it before but it had been a while. Every day for the last week he’s woken up and saying, “Queen! Cars! Trucks!” which really just means he wants to watch “Cars.”
3. He loves to jump. It’s so cute to watch him try to jump as far as he can. He squats really low and then springs up into the air saying “Jump!”
4. He loves ketchup (and most sauces). One time we went to Burger Supreme and gave him some fries and a little paper cup of ketchup to dip his fries in. He just dipped the fries in and licked the ketchup off. Eventually he bagged the fries and was dipping his hands in. Then, when he decided that wasn’t enough, he started drinking it. We were all busy eating our food and looked over after a minute and saw him chewing. I grabbed the cup away from him and noticed that half of it was gone. He had eaten half of the paper cup–because the ketchup tasted that good. mmmm….
5. He, like his daddy and grandpa, loves pickles.
6. He has to have his toy cars lined up perfectly. As you can see in the picture below:

7. He likes to click his tongue. I know where he is by the sound of his tongue.
8. The way he says choo-choo train: “choo choo treen”; and how he says “choo choo” in a really high-pitched voice. Love it!
9. Something newly discovered: He will not eat a banana if it’s broken. He tries to put it back together and after realizing he can’t, he gets mad and hits the banana. Really frustrating…(for both of us).
10. He said “I wuh you” (I love you) for the first time last Friday and I just love hearing him say it.
I could make this list insanely long, but I won’t. I just never want to forget some of the things that make James so funny and lovable. I’m pretty sure he’ll stop doing all of these things at some point. Maybe I’m wrong…Maybe he’ll never eat a banana unless it’s in one piece, and maybe he’ll always love ketchup so much that he would eat it with anything. He may always love pickles like his daddy and grandpa. And maybe one day he’ll be an astronaut and fly to the moon. But just in case these he doesn’t do any of these things, I’ll remember that at one time he did. I just love him!
